Summer wedding at Silchester Farm

I’ve been meaning to blog Laura & Clive’s summer wedding at Silchester Farm for some time. It’s actually one of my favourite days from 2021 so it’s about time I put my digits to the keyboard to write about it, right 🫣

Let’s skip back to July 2021, weddings were allowed, but with some restrictions still in place & we were in the middle of a sweltering heatwave under clear blue skies….

My friends Laura & Clive decided to get married, they’d waited a while & decided that July was the break in the pandemic cloud that would allow them to get their close family & friends together for their wedding.

The owners of nearby Silchester Farm had been busy during the lockdown, restoring, rebuilding & re landscaping in readiness for launching themselves as a new Hampshire venue, perfect for weddings.

For Laura & Clive, when they viewed Silchester Farm, it was an instant yes ! They loved everything about it, the attention to detail in the landscaping & decor, the professional team put in place to run the events & the choice of locations for their ceremony & reception. Silchester Farm had The Hampshire threshing barn, The Cowshed, The Dutch Barn & also the outdoor pavillion with the lake as a backdrop.

Laura & Clive opted for an outdoor ceremony & under brilliant Summer sunshine & bright blue skies they said their “I do’s”

Laura got ready onsite at Silchester Farm in the Woodshed & Clive got ready at their home nearby. The tartan & kilts were a nod to Laura’s scottish ancestry & the sunflowers ?

It’s Laura’s favourite flower.

Ceremony, gin & a watermelon wedding cake…

Laura is to blame for my love of gin & fever tree tonic !

When we first met through a local photography club, I hadn’t really discovered gin & fever tree tonic was an unknown delight ! So when I saw her cute chair end decs of empty fever tree bottles & mini sunflower like flowers I did smile.

Laura & Clive’s outdoor ceremony was in dazzling sunshine. I loved Laura’s quick glance back at her Dad before she said her vows to Clive. The glances between her & Clive during their ceremony & the giggles were precious moments to capture. Their choice of tokens to exchange during the ceremony were a ring for Laura & a wrist band for Clive.

After a hilarious confetti walk, it was back to the patio of the Threshing Barn where guests were treated to more acoustic melodies from the fabulous Festival Sons

Laura & Clive’s choice of wedding cake was genius & a smash success with their guests ! They opted for a watermelon & fruit cake, It looked stunning ! When they cut it, it provided the guests with the perfect  refreshment hit while they supped Pimms & enjoyed the sunshine !

The Cowshed & The Dutch Barn photoshoot.

Laura really enjoys fine food & after a taster session before the wedding Goose & Berry were her choice for her wedding catering.

The Cowshed looked amazing with its picture window backdrop & stunning industrial style chandeliers. I loved Laura & Clive’s centrepieces, another nod to gin !

The speeches are always a favourite part of photographing a wedding for me, I love capturing the reaction, the performances & when it happens, the unguarded emotions. The picture window in the Cowshed at Silchester farm & the warm wood pannelling created some gorgeous light & backdrops for photography of the guests & speeches.

Laura requested a photoshoot set up in the Dutch Barn where her guests could come to me for portraits & group photos. This was a first for me as part of a wedding day package. It proved to be a roaring success with the guests! I enjoyed it too, & it made for some great alternative group photos for their gallery !

This fabulous summer wedding day at Silchester farm rolled into an evening party to amazing live music by The Festival Sons. After the sun had set sparklers were lit & everyone enjoyed marshmallow toasting around the firepit!

“Fabulous wedding photos, thank you so much ! I fell in love with photography all over again”
